Monkey's First Primary Talk

Monkey was asked to give a short talk in Primary the first Sunday in January. I wanted to give him as much input as possible. So in preparation, I asked him a lot of questions about the scriptures, his favorite scripture story and what he learned from it. Then I put it all together with a scripture verse. He did such a great job - no fear at all. He had some help "reading" but delivered like a champ.

The Scriptures are the Word of God
Heavenly Father gave us the scriptures to teach us about Him and his Son, Jesus Christ. My favorite scripture story is about the prophet, Nephi. Heavenly Father sent Nephi to Jerusalem to get the golden plates from Laban. It was important for Nephi and his family to have the word of God. Nephi said, "And we had obtained the records which the Lord had commanded us, and searched them and found that they were desirable; yea, even of great worth unto us, insomuch that we could preserve the commandments of the Lord unto our children." (1 Nephi 5:21) I know the scriptures - the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants and Pearl of Great Price - are the word of God. They teach us to make good choices and to be kind to one another.
