I need a little Christmas now.

Wil works for a large government contractor. It's a big company with offices nationwide, the kind of company that doesn't just do a run of the mill holiday party. It's a PARTY! The kind you get dressed up for. The kind of thing that we can't afford to go to on our own. There's a full schedule of events that looks something like this:

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Cocktail Reception
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Dinner
9:00 pm – 10:00 pm Dessert

6:00 – 10:30 pm – Complimentary Portraits
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Casino
7:00 pm – midnight – Band/Dancing

The babysitter is scheduled. My outfit is all picked out! A fancy dinner and DANCING at no cost to us!!!

And my husband has the stomach flu.

So instead of getting all dressed up, tonight I will be scrounging together random leftovers to feed the kids and doing laundry. Woo Hoo!

I feel for you, Lauren. How I would LOVE to go to a nice fancy dinner and dancing party with my husband - well, at this point I'd love to do ANYTHING with my husband - but dinner and dancing and nice clothes and socializing sounds SO FUN. Especially when you have the outfit picked out and you've been anticipating a fun and romantic evening. So sorry about the flu. The flu sucks. You (and Wil) have my sympathy. Good luck with the laundry.

Oh, I was so excited for you, and wondering what outfit you had chosen - heaven knows you two deserve a little Christmas cheer with some dancing! Oh, my stomach just plummeted to the floor when I read that Wil's sick! I'm so sorry. I would indeed be tempted to go stag, simply for the HOUR long dessert! I'm sorry, friend. At least Linds is there to keep you company (at a distance so as not to catch the flu).

I am so sorry! I love those type of events! Well maybe next time. I am glad he has it now and not in two weeks!
