Travelog - Texas 2009 Part 1

(I had great intentions on Monday, until naptime never happened. Then there were no hopes of getting more accomplished. So here is my second attempt, let's keep our fingers crossed that they sleep.)

We left National Airport bright and early the morning of the 3rd, on our way to Texas. I can't say enough about flying out of National. All other flights with the kids have been chaotic and stressful, but this one gave me hope. They gave us our own TSA Agent to help things move smoothly through security. The airline let us board early and the flight attendant came to the front of the plane as we boarded, took the car seats and had them both buckled in by the time we had the boys to our seats. It was amazing. I wish I had gotten their names so I could personally thank them for all that they did to keep this mom sane. The boys did a great job on the plane and we arrived in Texas happy and relaxed. I couldn't believe it. We spent Saturday afternoon getting settled in at the Ramon's and then headed over to Mimi and Papa's house to see the family. We kept telling Little Man that we were in Texas but he refused to believe it, until we pulled up to Mimi's house and he yelled, "Mommy, it's Texas!" The boys had fun seeing their Mimi, Papa, Aunts and Uncles and we got to catch up on all the wedding plans. Sunday we went back to Mimi's to celebrate a late Becker family Christmas along with Wil, Little Man, Bug and E's birthdays. It was a busy day. Lots of playing with Papa and the cousins. Cake, cake and more cake! Cool presents for the boys. Aunt Jean made both the boys blankets - Little Man calls it his "ga-lub blanket" (that stands for globe, because the fabric has a map on it).

Monday morning we left early for San Angelo. It's been four years since we left and we couldn't miss the chance to see some of our dear friends. We had to drive through an ice storm to get there, but we made it safely. Wil and Heather got to spend their birthdays together and the kids had a great time playing together.

Tuesday evening we had dinner with our sister-in-law Robyn and her parents. It took the boys a few minutes to get used to Otis, David and Robyn's chocolate lab, but once they did Little Man had a great time playing with him. I was so worried about how they were going to behave... everything was so off. Bug wasn't feeling well. We had called his doctor that morning to get his tummy meds. Their schedule was so off and we were adding to all that by adding a road trip to our vacation. But they made their mom proud by being on their best behavior. And Robyn's family was so welcoming and understanding of our busy boys. It was a pleasure to get to visit with them. We got back to Keller around midnight and managed to get the boys to bed without waking them up. It was a miracle.

Wednesday we tried to sleep in and had a slow morning before Wil took the boys to play with their cousins and I headed over to help with wedding and bridal shower preparations.

The kids had a great time and I enjoyed spending time with the Becker girls without all the Becker boys around.

Stay tuned for Travelog Part 2 - The Wedding.
